It should go without saying that one of the hottest commodities post-collapse will be alcohol. It has been a form of currency ever since it was invented thousands of years ago.
Chances are, thousands of years from now, we'll still be trading cases of beer to get our friends to help us move into our new space-station.
While all alcohols are held in high regard, whiskey is on a separate pedestal all over the world.
It is one of the most highly sought-after liquors on the planet, and many people would fork over a pretty hefty price for a bottle of it if conditions are right.
This isn't likely to change when SHTF. There's a lot of alcoholics out there and even those who aren't will probably pay a great deal for a taste of better days.
For those reasons, it would be in your best interest to learn how to distil your own whiskey before times get rough. Learn how on the next page.

Illegal to do in the U.S., if your caught with the equipment and it has been used for untaxed liquor, you get imprisoned. (Note: I did say caught.) Lol
Does it matter after the downfall of society?

Depends on what downfall. If there is a government still in place it will. Will give them another reason to imprison you.

Ethanol fuel, rum, vodka, rye……a million reasons and uses for understanding the distilling process. Also a good understanding of yeast will go a long way
That and the fact you must discard the methanol which boils at around 163-165. This is rendered 1 Oz for every 5 gal batch of mash. Always go 2 Oz you’ll never miss the shot and still have your eye sight
Daniel Angel no, just making it
I know what I want for Christmas then.
Good for trading

That is some$#%&!@*s**t.
That’s what I thought, but then again, I won’t make it anyway because with my family, they would just lay under the still and I wouldn’t see any anyway.
all you need is a methanol license to make as a fue –legal or yourselff
That you can get by with, methyl alcohol is the prohibited one, but don’t drink the Ethyl, that stuff will kill you.
Whats this “collapse” BS? When the dollar goes, another currency will replace it, either another greenback like after the “civil war”, but likely an official world currency. The dollar is the current world currency. Won’t be the mark of the beast quite yet. But until it does, bullets can be traded for jerky, jerky for fresh bread, clean water and whiskey for soap…the sun will rise the next day…don’t anticipate an apocalypse of Biblical proportions just because the dollar crashes. It has crashed many times before now. The apocalypse might occur BEFORE the dollar goes…who knows?

You can make it for yourself legally. Just no selling it.
