This is a tragic story about an experienced hiker who ran out of water on a trail in the Grand Canyon and paid for that with her life.
Luckily, her daughter and a nephew were found by another hiker, given water and escorted to safety.
The Mom probably got lost in 80+ degree heat and succumbed to the heat; if she had more water, she likely would have survived given the Search and Rescue efforts that were undertaken to find her.
It is a tragic, horrible story about a person who knew what she was doing, but ran headlong into the unforgiving jaws of nature.
It is an object lesson for anyone who ventures out into the wilderness – even those with experience can make mistakes, get lost and die.
