An All Natural De-Skunking Solution for Your Dog That’ll Actually Work

skunk

If you have ever had an experience with a skunk, or more likely, your dog has, you know the process of removing the stench is lengthy, smelly and difficult.

That is, until you try this awesome method for de-skunking that uses only natural ingredients.

How to Natural De-Skunk a Dog

You will need:
• 1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide (this is the kind you find in the first aid section of your average grocery store.)
• 1/4 cup baking soda
• 1-2 drops of liquid dish soap (optional)
• 2-3 drops lemon essential oil (optional–but adds extra deodorizing power)
• Rubber Gloves
• Bucket

Put on your gloves and gather everything you will need. Once you mix the ingredients, the solution must be used immediately, so there won’t be any time to go searching for the dog, etc!

I did this outside and tied the dog up to a post so my hands would be free. I also had a hose handy.

Mix together the peroxide, baking soda, and dish soap. Stir well and then quickly apply to the dry dog, being careful not to splash any in his eyes. Thoroughly work the solution in his coat. It should cover and permeate as much of the hair as possible.

Allow the dog to “soak” for around 5 minutes.

After the waiting period, thoroughly rinse the dog with water.

It sounds simple, but by using these simple, natural ingredients, you can remove the vast majority of the stench that resides on your dog after a meeting with a skunk.

Depending on how extensive the spraying was, two washes with this incredible solution will do the trick, but you should do as many as you need until the smell is gone.

This works well except you don’t need the lemon essential oil$#%&!@* That’s not essential at all and doesn’t do$#%&!@*to “deodorize” it just attempts to cover up the lingering smell from the spray that gets into their ears / eyes where you cannot apply the solution safely.
