Far and away, the most common form of severe survival situation most will people face is the temporary power outage.
For purposes of this article, “temporary” means more than a few hours and up to four days.
That type of emergency moves you past the “Damn, there is no Netflix or Snapchat” phase but to not the “get a hotel room” or “enact the doomsday survival master plan phase.”
It also is the most common type of survival situation across the country – a situation where the power goes down, but getting it restored will take more than flicking a switch at a power station or clearing a few branches off the power lines.
