If you're like most people, “the most dangerous animals in the world” brings to mind the large, savage predators that dominate the top of the food chain. The phrase, “lions and tigers and bears, oh my!” comes to mind as you picture a huge beast with sharp claws and teeth…maybe a snarling grizzly bear?
That only makes sense. Apex predators are certainly threats, but the big beasts are not always the most dangerous and in a survival situation, the more you know, the better your chances of getting out alive. Surprisingly, some of the animals most dangerous to humans aren't large and some of them don't even have teeth. Size doesn't always equal danger.
Some of the animals on our list don't make the headlines when they attack; they are just not fuel for Hollywood-style fiction, and that's part of why we don't recognize them. In a disaster situation, you'll need to stay alert for these hostile critters, especially the smaller, seemingly innocent ones.
We assembled the slideshow that follows to show 16 animals from around the world that you should stay far, far away from in a survival scenario (even though the last animal on the slide will be challenging). The good news is, most of these animals are restricted to a certain geographical range. There's no chance you'd face them all at once. The bad news is, a bad encounter with even one of them could be fatal, fast!

Do All poisonous snakes have slit pupils?
I took a “can you identify these 50 poisonous snakes” test and some of the of the snakes had Round pupils. I thought round pupils are No poisonous?
Depends…, pit vipers have slit pupils. ..others do not, ie. Sea snake, coral snake(I believe),and a few others.
It a click trap! FU!
Rule of thumb: If it’s teeth are bigger than yours, then stay away from it.
Not true. Mambas, Cobras, King Browns, Kraits all have round eyes..
I guess for our local area its true as the cotton mouths, water moccasins, rattlesnakes all have slit pupils and other like rat snakes, kings and water snakes all have round.
Locally, Vince Havens…you would be correct. Venomous snakes of our area, will have slanted eyes as you have stated. Also, a flat wider head (triangle shaped almost).
Toby yea i grew up around snakes in ponds, creeks, woods. I constantly try to school people on my fb page that share pics of snakes and scream “what kind of snake is this?!”
I cant stand the attitude that a “good snake is a dead snake. “.
I was just surprised to see round eyes on a poisonous snake. Ha
Black mamba, within 12 minutes with out antidote, it’s to late, 20 minutes your done, thing is , you get hit by one, feels like a scratch
The e pic if I’m correct, black mamba, not all poisonous snakes have slits, like the one on the cover, most deadliest snake in the world and it has round eyes, same withe coral snake in Arizona
hurrah Trump$#%&!@*Muslims!
Just take two pet Honey Badgers with you. Bears, Lions, Pit Vipers or Cobras, it don’t matter, Honey Badgers will take care of them lol.
They won’t have round pupils plus they have split plates on their bellies. Also a diamond shaped head.
Looks like a Black Mamba…very poisonous.
Even pit vipers like rattlesnakes, Copperheads and cottonmouths can have round pupils depending on the light. Learning to identify the venomous snakes in your area by several means, is best. Check with your dept of natural resources or fish and game dept. They can help.
Or let me know where you live and I’ll post the links here for venomous snakes in your area and how to identify them so you can avoid them.
Basically, coral snakes are the only venomous snakes in North America with round pupils. If it has round pupils and it ain’t red/yellow/black, it ain’t gonna hurt ya.
Politicians?!?
