That tree in the front yard has probably been downed and taken away for the last six months and the only thing that remains is the stump. You reflect on it often, drinking coffee in the AM and staring at the thing, trying to figure out your next step.
The problem is, it’s going to be a very laborious project. You are going to have to bring out the right tools and then throw yourself into a day or two of back-breaking work. Who wants that? Honestly, you do not want to remove it, the stump is not hurting anyone, but the spouse has been hinting that it needs to get done. And, yeah, it does need to get done.
Is there an easier way than using picks, hammers, and shovels? We are pleased to say that there is!
After the break go over to the next page and see a great tutorial on how to effectively remove a tree stump!

Get a Dodge Dakota! 4×4!
No thanks. I know a better way. No fire. No salt. No digging. No 4×4. I can remove that stump and back fill with dirt within 1 hour with a chain saw and a pry bar.
Amazing post very interesting
Ya explosives
A stump grinder is sufficient provided the operator is not a tool and scared to go below grade level. Those teeth are hardened carbide a rock is not going to hurt the teeth.

How do you keep from trashing the chain? Just touching mine to the dirt dulls it in seconds.

A shovel and an axe makes all stumps go away and doesn’t need power. Not very survivory of them, using a drill. Just an average backyard tip.

So… not military grade high explosives then?

It seems like too much effort you could just pile some scrap wood on it and light it, it would do the same
I was thinking the same thing. Save the kerosene too.
Its called a shovel and an axe.
