First of all, a pickaroon is a wood-handled, metal-topped log handling tool. It is very handy for those who use it but, if homemade there are a few things a user needs to be careful of – including that the pick part is sharp enough to dig into its target, a log!

And yes, you want that target to be that log, not your leg! Ouch!

What we have on the following page is an extraordinary video of a man who has been given a pickaroon and now must revamp the tool. It is very impressive, with a long wooden handle, but does not work as well as it should.
