If you've never heard of the Atlantic Wall, during WWII it was used as a coastal defense near the coast of the Netherlands, Denmark, France, and it also went up the coast of Norway. Nazi Germany constructed this wall so that they could protect themselves from an invasion from the Allied forces.
The wall was build with several ways the Germans could defend themselves: artillery batteries, coast guns, and more weapons. The bunkers were constructed to shelter thousands of men under just one bunker.
The many layers of a bunker also came with an engine room for power and also a ventilation room. The bunkers could be accessed by the men at different entry points that went down a long stairway.
If you're curious what the Atlantic Wall looks like now you can look at a bunker that once was and that has been hidden for decades! This video is shocking!
