7 Things to Scavenge From Cars When All Hell Breaks Loose

abandoned-wrecked-car

After a SHTF situation, one reality is that there will be a lot of abandoned vehicles due to the severity of the aftermath.

Abandoned vehicles can provide a lot of survival materials, tools, and applies that you can utilize post-collapse. However, before taking advantage of that car that's no longer in use, it's vital to make sure it's actually abandoned. You can't start taking things from the car unless you've established that it's indeed left behind by its previous owners.

Once you have established that the car is abandoned there is an unlimited amount of supplies you can re-purpose for survival uses.

Some of these items include hoses, mirrors, and the list go on and on. Use these supplies to your advantage and add them to your SHTF stash because at one time or another these items will be useful to you.

To learn about an incredible list of supplies and parts you can salvage from an abandoned vehicle, visit the next page.

Couldn’t read the 8 page article. Too many ads and pop-ups causing it to freeze up. Can anyone tell me what’s in it???

You watch too much TV Eric, besides, if all$#%&!@*has hit the fan, 911 will be as useful as praying to the cat in the hat.

A good majority of fuel tanks in later model cars are plastic, all you need is a pocket knife and your golden.

Anyone ever been in a car with the windows rolled up in the summer? Any car would make a great food dehydrator. You even have the wire racks that can be made out of the seats after you tear them apart.

Eric Crawson dual 911?? You really think that will be an option? Bahahahaha

It’s not going to catch fire from a spark unless it has the exact fuel to air ratio I bet you probably believe a cigarette throw in a tub of gas will catch fire too

Ive had to rebuild carbs on a few cars and bikes that started and ran for about 2 minutes before clogging with jellied fuel or rust from hydrophilic ethanol.

Les Stroud and others have stripped abandoned cars for useful items in a survival situation. Nothing new here.

lol it’s funny how they stress continually to be sure to verify the “actual owner ha abandoned the vehicle” for liability reasons later. If you’re worried about that, you’re not going to survive anyway.

s**t. I don’t need to read this, I’ve already got this list in my head. Plus some stuff I’m sure they forgot.

Fuel will not go bad in 2 weeks unless you have massive amounts of condensation. My bike has 80s Keihin carbs (Honda nighthawk) and if you know anything about carbs you’d know Jap carbs are more ridiculous than a Holley with the old power valves. I’ve rebuilt hundreds of different types of carbs from lawn mowers to jags so I know this for a fact. Especially now days Obama fuel or whatever you wanna call it

I had a XJ650 Turbo. 4 suck-thru carbs that had a tendency to run stupid lean if the shaft seals went. It needed a complete rebuild because not only did ethanol absorb water and rot, it also caused the rubber fuel lines to disintegrate and clog the holy f**k out of every single passage and jet in the entire bank

If you don’t find my rifle and flashlight it probablty means I am about to shoot a looter and take all the crap he stole from other people.

One must have access to equipment to strip these items and be able to carry them away with a sawed off shotgun
