If the event lasts a long time and the authorities are unable to restore order, you can bet the looters will move from the commercial areas to the residential areas. This is why you need to have a good weapon for self defense, preferably a firearm. Don’t stand there helplessly as criminals kick in your door, attack your family, and steal the things you need to survive. If possible, prevent this from happening in the first place by putting good security measures in place.

If there are people you care about in an area that’s been hit by an earthquake or hurricane, you will be overcome with worry until you’re able to get in touch with them. Don’t let that happen.

If the grid doesn't go down a radio may also be useful for listening to the news and finding out what's really going on out there. That's not all that you'll need, however.

After the break, there are two more additional supplies you can never have too much of. Remember, everything is going to run out sooner rather than later post-collapse and it's up to you to have enough supplies so that doesn't happen!

Most of what is said in this article can be bought in the camping section of most stores I like Cabela’s myself and loaded in a back pack. good stuff to have but do try to learn how to cook with a camp fire as it is not as easy as a stove.

Colloidal silver!!! Its kinda on the list, #9. It kills EVERYTHING. Except you. IT KILLS MRSA. But nooooooooo everybody wants their FRICKIN DOCTORS and antibiotics. Ever since I started using silver for me and my family, I am a germ snob. I can’t stand to be around people when they have the sniffles, and say oh I’m okay, I’ve got theraflu. If they LISTEN I don’t get too upset but if they think they already know it all and don’t wanna hear it, I just wanna scream at them, get outta here with your germs sicko

Who is the author that is overusing the phrase SHTF? Not everyone who follows Die Hard Survivor is obsessed with a collapse of society or an apocalypse.
