When a natural disaster, EMP, or a world disaster takes place there are some items that right away become more valuable. People want access to tools, remote areas, and natural resources, especially if they didn't stockpile any to begin with.
On the other side of the coin, some items will decrease in value. In these cases, it's not very surprising for some people to recycle or try to trade supplies that have no use to them.
If you have items that you don't use, it's important not to throw them out. Right now it may seem tempting to discard a lot of items you don't use, but you may want to reconsider that. Consider how you can use almost anything for another task or a task later down the road!
