If you own livestock of any type, you know the importance of hay as a food supplement during the winter months.

Conventional livestock feed can get really expensive and hay is one way of making sure your animals get fed without breaking your bank account.

You can buy hay, but that can get expensive in and of itself, so the best bet, if you can pull it off, is to hay your own land or land you have access yourself.

That requires equipment and too often, the “bigger is better” notion rules the day, leading to the purchases of machinery that while still cheaper over the long run, are much more “firepower” than is necessary.

Often, depending on the size of your livestock herd and the area you have to hay, you can complete the job with much more inexpensive – and smaller equipment.
