When we think back to those days when early man first discovered fire, probably by seeing a lightning bolt strike a tree, we have to wonder if they knew what an important survival tool they had on their hands.
Certainly, they later realized its importance but did they go out of their way to learn how it was created and how they could have it any time of their choosing?
We can only imagine the joyous party early man had when they discovered they could make their own fire, not having to harness it only when lightning struck or having to hold onto the embers of the fire they already had. They might have felt like they were their god’s favorites!
After the break, go on over to the next page and check out the Coleman Fire Starter kit.
At under twenty dollars or less, this is an effective fire starter and, as we all know, having more than one method can be crucial to survival!

Never support a country that will most likely be the reason you need the equipment to begin with.
How about you save some money, and buy the Harbor Freight one instead? Same stuff, $2.99(1.99 each with coupon).

Bic. Lighter…nothing beats a Bic..or two even..
Careful with your purchase, many Coleman, coughland and harbor freight are substandard, best I’ve used are USGI
I’ve had no problems with the Harbor Freight ones, and I have at least six of them in various BOB’s……….
Ernie Grizzly Anderson Anything beats a Bic lighter that’s empty……………………….
Pyro……….
Scott Paddock good to hear…GI one is only one has held up for me after many years….rod separates and fails and poor magnesium/aluminum block on all others I’ve used….
First and best I still use is by “Dones” or “Doanes”…. Kinda worn
And it’s made in China
Get China’s name off and make it in USA
That what I did , I bought a full case at the last parking lot sale
Excellent. I’ve carried something similar in my hunting belt for 25 years
