It is difficult for many to imagine a world without smart phones, computers, automated processes and the relative ease with which we in North America live our lives.

If, though, we experienced a life altering, infrastructure decimating survival event, a lot of that ease would very quickly go by the wayside.

Instead of getting all we want at the grocery and storing it in cooled appliances at home, we may have to grow what we need and store it in root cellars.

Instead of going to the Emergency Room or doctor to get an illness or injury treated, we may have to do it ourselves.

You get the picture.

If the event were massive and destructive enough, many of the “luxuries” we take for granted might not exist anymore.

Which will make possessing certain skills invaluable – for bartering or outright payment.
