How We Can Still Contact Loved Ones After the Grid Goes Down

While walkie-talkies will be fine for short range communication, with those in our immediate area; with family members and acquaintances — what about those we know and love outside of our state?

Wanting to exchange a few words with your own Mom and Dad in another state, after a collapse, is not just proper but personally rewarding. Once we know they and the people “back home” are safe we can breathe a little easier and continue-on with our own survival journey.

Still, we would like to maintain some form of ongoing communication and letter writing may not be possible for a while. We never know what will happen over the weeks and months! And, seeing as how cell phones will probably be out of commission and landlines will be constantly busy, we might want to think about an alternate form of contact.
