Just about everyone has at least one padlock sitting around, usually in a junk drawer, that we have no idea what the combination is to open it.
If you live in a house where several generations of people have lived or played in it, chances are you have several.
There is also a pretty good chance that padlock is actually locking something – although, it is unlikely anyone remembers what.
You also might come in contact with a padlock that you do not know the combination for in a survival situation.
In either case, not knowing the combination is a major hurdle, but in some cases, it can keep you and your family from safety or from gaining access to much-needed food, water or equipment.
On the next page, we show one way of opening a padlock without the combination.
