8 Seemingly Useful Items We Should Never Have in a Survival Bug Out Bag

Regarding the subject of bugging out, many preppers agree that the more we have to carry the better. This is because we do not know how long we will have to live in a bug out location so it's important to bring it all with us so that we'll have enough supplies for a while. That's not a bad idea, however, carrying that much weight can create problems.

What if you have to walk to your bug out shelter for a long time — do you expect to make it there all the while carrying twenty-five pounds of survival items on your back?

Yes, the first couple of miles will most likely be fine but after that, you're likely going to have to get rid of a lot of that poundage. Instead of figuring out what you can do without while you're trying to get to safety, it's important you do that now so you don't have to worry about that later.

After the break check out a list of items that one author feels we can do without and why he chose to leave them behind. Some of these items are speculative, so when everything is said and done take the time to truly think about what you can and cannot be without!
