6.2 Detroit diesel. That was one issue, under powered. I found there were a few parts here and there that were not civi spec. Plus most have not been taken care of and run down. The 1008’s are known to have a “death wobble” when coming to a stop. My first experience with the wobble scared the living crap out of me

So I was just thinking about this earlier. Had to put a thermostat and a new radiator hose on my car today. Can you tell me what year I should try to get. I know computers with emp won’t fill the bill. Funny I was thinking of that not less than an hour or two ago. I have a 97 acura integra and will be wanting something else. Give me options.

There will be more gas and diesel than you could wish for… If you know how to get it…

Buy a new truck and you’ll have a factory warranty if anything happens to it like a EMP

Yeah but there was a difference. I was seeing 4 door hi lux in South America in 86 and never saw them in the states for 15 years after at least.

I’ve seen that article before. I had been thinking of buying all new electronics for my newer truck. Parts guy says it would be about 150, less the entire harness. Times are getting a little hard here with the Army telling me BOHICA this past weekend.

My dad just bought this ’65, 60,000 miles and been on a farm since new. Box dumps, or scissors straight up 15′.

Not very fast is it? Lol. We love ours and use it whenever I need to get stuff. Mine has a twin RAM dump and a gear driven 10 ton winch for a boom hoist

  15. Joseph Tracy said:

It looks like the body on yours is in better shape than mine mine is a slow steady work in process of restoration since it also is being used regularly

There were many different engines that were available in these years my other Chevy Viking has a 409 V8 in it however the one above has a big stovebolt 6

It’s not the best I’ve ever seen but not real bad. Had to work on the floors, but pretty solid overall. Mechanically great truck, well worth the $2,000 he paid for it.

  18. Derek Miller said:

This one has a 327. When he bought it I thought for sure it would have the 292.

  19. Joseph Tracy said:

Mine is the 292 it’s only 165 horsepower however with the low gears I’ve never had any problem hauling anything I connected to it including towing a broken down semi truck the guy I bought it from was the son of the original purchaser who used it in their construction company in Estes Park Colorado for over 40 years his dad finally passed away and then the man I bought it from work it until he retired and he and his wife opened a small ceramic shop in business and didn’t need it anymore and they gave it to me for really really good price just like what you guys got yours I had contemplated for quite a while putting a V8 engine in it and I still may do so if the six-cylinder ever decides to start breaking down it’s never had any work done in close to half a million miles

  20. Derek Miller said:

Wow! Yeah same story bought from original owners son, only time it left the farm was to go to the grain elevator.

  21. Joseph Tracy said:

This is my other Viking hits a semi tractor it has the 409 V8 that Chevy made for a few years in the early sixties I don’t know why they quit making it this motor is in the enormous Power House
