You’re Bugging Out and Just Got Bit by a Brown Recluse Spider. Here’s How to Effectively Treat It.

brown recluse spider

Spiders are feared around the world for a reason. It's likely because they have many legs, eyes, and make intricate webs that look creepy yet beautiful. However, when you ask a person why they fear spiders, they might tell you it's because they bite.

Even though spiders can bite doesn't mean all of them are dangerous. Usually, when a person gets bit by a spider it's only as painful as a mosquito bite.

There are a few spiders that can cause discomfort in even the bravest of survivalists, however. The brown recluse is such a spider and can make about anyone uncomfortable. Get bit by this venomous spider and you would need to go to the hospital. However, if the collapse is taking place you'll be out of luck.

After the break find out what you should do if you get bit by a brown recluse spider when SHTF and there's no access to a medical facility.

I’ve been bit a couple of times and my pets have been bitten also. I mix meat tenderizer in colloidal silver and squirt it in the bite with a syringe. After it has stopped the venom from eating the skin, keep it clean with colloidal silver as it heals to keep it from getting infected. This method works every time. Never been to a doctor for a bite nor have my animals been to a vet for a bite.

Personally can vouch for simply putting HONEY covered by band-aid on it for 2-3 days (refresh honey 2-3 times a day). Several family members also know this works ! It’s that simple – it just goes away with NO issues !!! Try it !!

I was bitten by a bunch of baby black widows years ago and felt like i had the flue. Found out several years later that a coworker didnt like me and he had been growing black widows and he put a bunch of spider babies in my coat at work.

I’m a medic…..a lot of times the treatment you get at the hospital’s make it worse. You will not die of you don’t get medical treatment. You’ll suffer but not die m

Brown recluse almost killed me with medical attention. With out it I’m a dead man. Depends on the individual.

Doctor told my stepmom to put raw bacon over the bite. It stopped the venom from killing the tissue and within a couple days it was healing nicely. Don’t know if it works for everyone and I’m no doctor and have no idea why or how it works, but it sure helped her.

I don’t know about him, but here in Missouri I grown so accustomed to seeing them I can identify a Brown Recluse/fiddle back from across the room. They have a uniqueness about them that makes them easy for me to recognize. I have seen too many in my time. Never been bitten knock on wood.

Here in Missouri at one time we had a rash of elderly folks dieing from brown recluse/fiddle back.
They slip on some house shoes in the middle of the night and Whamy!. Always shake out your shoes. Cloths that have been on a hanger for a while in your closet,,shake them out too before dawning them. If you see a spider stuck in your bathtub or sink that can’t climb out,,very high probability it’s a recluse,,some reason the suckers can’t climb up the smooth surface.

My uncle was bit after putting on a shirt from his closet. He said he thought his cherry fell of his cigarette onto his arm. He was at the hospital with the spider in a jar and got their “treatment” within an hour. His arm still rotted just like Phil said.

  14. Susan Kolb said:

Lee Thomas The bite is like no other spider. We have in the past had that type of bite treated by a doctor. When a cat has a rotted area on their belly the size of a hens egg, oozing what looks like pus, but isn’t that’s a brown recluse. Oh, and I have killed those spiders.

  15. Raymond J Gould said:

Decent advice, however, the first thing to do is cut-out the bite, recluse bites (I’ve had two) tend to leave a small bubble that must be removed or it will grow! Then if you feel the need, proceed with the rest of the advice herein…

I saw a woman lose an eye after Katrina from a recluse bite. The surgery and scarring, its sad.I always spray with antibacterial, then blast it with a freeze spray, like what the dr uses before starting an IV.Just don’t ignore it.By the time youre oozing necrotic fluid, its a bit late for prevention.

I use to teach foriegn crew an indigenous species class when theyd come to the south to work.Biggest thing is be aware of the danger.Shake out bedding, boots, ect.,dont stick your hand where your eye cant see,or if you get bit, remain calm and remember what it looked like.Snakes were the obvious but spiders were a close 2nd.The one we forget?Fire ants.Ive seen more 911 calls for them than the others combined.

Most brown recluse bites are dry bites and no venom is injected , I have been bitten more times than I would care to count.

  21. Shannon Vanhorn said:

Wait ..your supposed to take a pic and put it on social media and ask what (natural things ) or free and cheap thing can fix it !!! Smmfh !!!! Get to effin e.r !!! It’s eats tissue and becomes necrotic,And is deadly ! ..

No, you haven’t. Get tested for MRSA. Brown recluse spider bites do not leave a bubble. You’re increasing your chances of staph infection by treating blisters this way. BR spiders are not common and not that dangerous. Just google the spider and “not dangerous” and you’ll see I’m right. And again, next time you get a blister, have it tested for MRSA.

  28. Karen Elkins Eiler said:

Btw, not one death in the US from a confirmed BR spider bites. They’re really not that dangerous for the average person.

  29. Raymond J Gould said:

Karen Elkins Eiler Wow, glad you’re a genius! Guess what, yes I have, when I was in TN staying with my sister (as if it’s your business), a vehicle I was working on had an infestation when I pulled the rear seat. I know what a recluse is, I damn well knew when I got bit.. Don’t tell other people what happened to them or what they know.

Treated mine with every over the counter medicine known to man and nothing worked. After a month used super glue out of desperation and it dried up within three days.
