Practice makes perfect so we always recommend a prepper or survivor to step up their game and try something new. Making a campfire is one of those fundamental things we learn but, once mastered, there really is no need to do it over and over again, right?

Maybe, but building your campfire above ground and creating a stealth fire are two entirely different things. Intrigued? A stealth fire is exactly what it sounds like.

It IS a fire you build out in the open, near your tent or lean-to but instead of having it open, where everyone can see it, you build the fire in a hole.

This fire is ideal during a dangerous situation, where others who may be up to no good or are hunting you will not see your fire and pinpoint your position.

Doing without a fire when it is below zero cannot happen, no matter the circumstances, and this way you have the warmth it provides yet are not giving away your position either.
