(Video) Prepping With Pets: How to Prepare Fido for SHTF

bug out with dog

We suppose it’s a given. When the grid goes down and it’s time to bug out, Fido will go with us. But have any of us really given any thought to how well he or she will cope without preparation?

It’s not enough just to have a sack of dog food. We need to consider about our best friend’s health. Is he on medication?

Also, when a collar isn’t enough, ask yourself if a harness and strong leash is strong for your dog? Does Fido understand the basics of sit and stay should the situation involve the safety and security of the family?

In another article, we dealt with giving away your location during a bug-out situation. It’s a dog’s natural inclination to bark if he feels an intruder is near but, in many bug-out cases, silence is golden. Can you get your dog to stay quiet on command?

After the break visit the next page and watch a video that may help you with issues related to animal care during a SHTF scenario.

People often do not consider their pets. I believe most will simply abandon their pets as liabilities or requiring resources over their families. I understand that. But pets are part my family and I intend to keep them with me. They really don’t require that much and they help more than they hurt or require.
