Birch bark is a valuable resource that can be used in many applications including crafts, building, stationary, and natural medicine. One popular method involves turning birch bark into an oil and we've got a great video from Far North Bushcraft that shows you how it's done.

In this video, Lonny not only teaches us how to gather bark and burn it to make an oil, he also teaches a few beneficial tips.

If you're going to use an empty paint can to burn the birch in (which is recommended), then you're going to want to check for lining inside the can and remove it before you use it, especially if you plan to use the oil for health purposes.
