If you find yourself in a survival situation in the wilderness, or any area where traveling by established roadways is to be avoided, knowing what direction you are headed or need to go is critical to your survival.

In most cases, if you have a general sense of the direction you need to head, choosing a landmark to hold your bearings suffices.

But if you do not have a landmark or are not sure the direction you are heading thus making a random landmark potentially as dangerous as none at all, finding due North and then figuring out East, South, and West is vital!

Fortunately, even if you do not have a compass, you have options, given to us by nature!

The video on the next page shows one say of making a homemade compass using just raw materials you can find just about anywhere!

You can do it with a cup of water a leaf and a magnetized needle but the water surface has to be still and if im not mistaken the cup would have to be made of wood or plastic
