Years ago we traveled through Alaska on a train and got to see, from a distance, many of the small villages and mountain homes. It was very quaint, with the ice and snow as a backdrop, and a gorgeous view! How easy it was to think: “I’d love to live like this.”

Still, when you get past the beauty, you know you are in for a lot of work.

    We aren’t off grid yet and I do those chores daily except the hit tub. Plus more since we have animals to tend to as well.

    Go off grid with out buying anything from a store. Did it for 1 1/2 years in Alaska and loved it.

    Off grid for ten years… Hardest thing to deal with is things hurried and lost in snow and frozen water supply. Especially with animals
