(Video) Couple is Driving on Frozen Ice on Lake Winnipeg When All of a Sudden Their Truck Falls Through…

truck driving on ice

If you’ve ever had one of those “We should have known better” moments in your life we do not think it will compare to the one a couple from Manitoba Canada had last March. Theirs is a tale of a somewhat naïve trust and sudden frightening realization smacking them right in the face!

Apparently, they never had any trouble driving in their truck on an icy lake in the past. However, on this particular day – unbeknownst to them – the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were warning people to stay off the ice in the area where they were traveling. A rapid current ran under the frozen water making it extremely unsafe for crossing.

On the next page, we have a video, taken by one of the occupants of the truck, taken while crossing and eventually taking the plunge when the ice broke beneath them!

It is frightening and you can hear the panic as the poor couple finds themselves in a truly scary situation. If ever there is a survivor’s story it is this one!

A truck broke through the lake ice just past our house a couple of years ago. The people escaped with little injury. Rescue called Amish in to cut the ice for divers to go in an attach a cable to pull the truck out. The whole neighborhood showed up to watch the production.

And BTW, before you drive out on the ice, check out your insurance policy. Probably not covered if your truck for a swim.
