tree stump

It is arguably one of the most arduous tasks a man can take on; removing a tree stump. No, it is not easy unless you have a lot of heavy equipment at your everyday disposal.

If not, you will experience the joys of cutting the tree down and hacking at the stump over and over again, leaving a mere numb – but it will never leave you entirely!

The chopping down of a tree, properly speaking, is never done for the kicks. There is always a purpose, whether you are clearing land for a bug-out shelter or flat, rich land is needed for cropping. The tree itself is firewood, and we are grateful!

However, what do you do if you have a lot of tree stumps and nothing but an ax? If you have time and are willing to submit the stump to “science” we may have a way to help you out!

After the break go over to the next page and read how an easy method can make the task of stump clearing much easier!

Cut as close to the ground as possible then ehat you want the part level with the ground is cut lines in it as many as possible it will let water get deeper into the wood. Rots within a year in oklahoma.

Why not just cut it level with the dirt then let it rot? Lines cut into the remaining wood will speed up the rotting process.works in oklahoma anyways. They rot pretty quick depending on how much rain we get in the said year

Diesel and lye. Mix diesel and lye til it starts smoking and turns black, then pour it on the stump. It’ll cause the stump to break down and decompose faster, and it will also prevent any saplings from sprouting from the roots. Comes in handy for hard to kill pest trees like locust or sweetgum.

Fill a five gallon bucket half full of diesel. Slowly add lye while stirring the diesel until it darkens and starts to smoke. Once it starts smoking, stop adding lye but keep stirring for about 5 minutes, then pour it on the stump slowly. Wear PPE, if it gets on your skin, neutralize it with vinegar and use dawn detergent afterwards

I’ve tried this before and it doesn’t work. Are all the ‘remedies’ just pulled off the new without checking to see if they work? Anyone have any REAL ways so I don’t have 2 wait 2 years before burning my stumps. I have a steel drum sawed in two with the top and bottom off. In year two, I can sit it over the stumps, fill it with trash and it’ll burn under the ground level. 1st year though, it just chars it. Any recommendations to burn one right after its been cut?

Drill holes in the stump and then pour a mixture of roundup and 24d. Kills the tree in short order and then you can burn it.

I used to cut a bowl shape in the top of the stump, and fill it with diesel every few days, for about 2 weeks, then drop a road flare in the bowl. Smoldered it all the way out to the roots.

Just dig down four inches in the ground. Cut the stump with a chain saw and cover it back up with dirt

I have done this… mine worked.. my neighbors didn’t do a thing…only things different is.. she used a cheaper brand and i had covered mine during heavy rain or snow….so something between the two locations made a difference…mine rotted within a season.. turned dirt a nice black color…what was left looked like pieces of cork..root system cratered also within time
