Laundry to Garden: How to Utilize an Irrigation System with Graywater

garden and irrigation

With very few exceptions, whether for drought, conservation or expense reasons (or a combo or all three,) most of us try and save as much water as possible.

If your life in a drought-stricken area or an area that has low rain totals during the late Summer, saving water might not even be an option – it might be the law.

One way of saving water is to reuse your “gray-water.”

Gray water is water that is used in washing machines, bathroom sinks, and bathtubs. Toilet water is not grey-water and kitchen water (because of grease content) is not generally considered grey-water.

Generally, if you are only using biodegradable products in your water, the refuse, the grey-water, is safe to use for other purposes.
