Here’s One Grizzly Bear Encounter This Man Won’t Soon Forget

grizzly bear

Make no mistake: grizzly bears can be extremely dangerous to humans. Most of them want nothing to do with us unless they smell tasty food we're carrying. If a bear has a way out, it'll usually wander off when it hears humans approaching. That's why hikers don't try to be silent in bear territory and even wear bear bells to give bears plenty of warning. That way, by the time you realize you had a grizzly bear encounter, it'll be just some furry hindquarters wandering away into the bush. But not all the time.

If you do encounter a bear up close, that can lead to a bad day. It may be just as surprised as you are and if you surprise a grizzly near its food, or if it's a mamma bear with cubs nearby, those teeth and massive claws are not just for show! But what happens when you're minding your own business and a bear decides to wander up to you? One man had his video camera rolling when that happened and he captured the whole amazing event.

Don't worry though, this beast had nothing but curiosity on its mind, but I bet the guy's heart rate went up a few notches! Take a look:

They say the worst day fishing is better than the best day at work, but they didn't say this could happen!

What are you stopping for, bear? This is my fishing spot!

Even though this fisherman  was not attacked, it's well worth watching the video (along with our other members-only content) after the break below. Those are some tense moments around 1:10!

Uh-oh. Not just passing through, after all. That beast is taking a seat to see what is so interesting here!Grizzly Bear Encounter

This is starting to get a little too cozy, but at least those big, sharp claws are staying down on the ground.

This was one lucky and quick-thinking fisherman. He did everything right in this unexpected situation, except for maybe staying alert enough to notice the bear's approach. Check out how steady his video is, too. That's one cool-headed outdoorsman!

At some point you have to invite him in for a beer,

A Redhawk .44 is not a sure thing against a charging grizzly. One thing, though…..it’s far better than throwing rocks!
