As survivalists and preppers, we have come to appreciate the abandoned skills that our ancestors thought were normal. In fact, these skills were used for everyday living! I mean really – who makes their own soap today?

There are a special few out there: craft and homesteading enthusiasts who want to give it a go. When you can go to the local Walmart© and pick up a bundle of three or four bars for only a buck or two — why bother?

That is easy to say now when everything is plentiful, but in a chaos ridden future when the grid goes down, transportation (those big trucks and planes that bring your soap to Walmart©) will be grounded.

However, you might want to think about boning up on that soap making skill by keeping supplies around the house that will help you. Or just walk around dirty!
