During a survival situation, one of the first things to go down will likely be traditional communications links – think of how much you lose in terms of communication during a simple power outage.
Now add to that most cell communication, wifi and possibly even land line phones.
Talk about being thrown back into the 1800's.

Like anything, you have to learn to use them correctly. You don’t want them going off while you’re avoiding trouble. Might be a bad thing. However, communication with the group is a must. So it can be a double edge sword.
